  • The men hunted deer and other animals
  • One of the favourite foods of the Iroquoinas people was corn cakes. This was prepared by patting corn into round cakes then baking it

  • Hunting
  • Fishing
  • Going in war
  • Men built the longhouses
  • Boys were allowed to go hunting with the men after they had killed a deer by themselves

Women

  • Women ran the longhouses

  • Women owned the blankets (skins), cooking utensils, farming tools, etc...

  • Many responsiblities such as: having children to follow the future of the tribe

  • In each of the longhouses there was mostly one clan, with the eldest and/or most respected women of the clan leading it as the Clan Mother
